Lisa Kelner has a Masters degree in Clinical Developmental Psychology, with a background in Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioural and Gestalt therapies. She is a trained Family and Marital therapist, and is experienced integrating Somatic approaches in her work with adults, couples, adolescents and families.
Lisa has been in private practice in Toronto since 1993. Her treatment focusses on present-centred therapy that helps individuals become aware of stuck patterns and transcend obstacles to explore more adaptive functioning. She specializes working with people experiencing anxiety, panic and depression, in life transitions, resolving relationship conflict, and healing from trauma.
Lisa works with families in conflict, using a Family Systems approach to help resolve problems through understanding common values and implementing goals based on those shared values. She provides parents with guidance as they grapple with raising healthy children, from early childhood throughout adolescence, and into finding fulfilling connections with adult children.
Since 2011, Lisa has been Clinical Director at The Boundless School, a wilderness boarding school for struggling teens. In addition to assisting youth to overcome barriers to academic success, Lisa has trained staff teams in a relational model of working with adolescents, and provides parent’s with support regarding issues facing families today: school avoidance, use of technology, gaming addiction, self-harm, substance use and anxiety.
